Cosmetic Acupuncture is an effective, non-surgical treatment to reduce the signs of aging. It is based on the principles of Chinese Medicine, which involves the insertion of very thin disposable needles into the acupuncture points on the face. This superficial insertion will increase the local circulation to the face and stimulate collagen production, which will fill out the lines and give firmness to the skin for a healthy, glowing complexion.
Acupuncture has been used for thousands of year to treat many conditions and illnesses. The effectiveness of acupuncture has been related to the manipulation of the energy points on the body to balance and to remove blockages in the meridians (channels of blood and energy), in order to achieve health and to prevent diseases. During a cosmetic acupuncture treatment, points are used to balance the energy and address physical issues that may be manifesting themselves on the face.
The possible benefits of Cosmetic Acupuncture include, but are not limited to: delays facial aging, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, minimizes crow’s feet, improves frown lines, tightens pores, lifts sagging skin and drooping eyelids, increase collagen production, moisturize skin from within, improves muscle tone, helps with dark circles and puffy eyes, brightens the eyes, improves hormonal balance to control acne, improves elasticity of facial muscles, reduces a double-chin, prevention of further wrinkles, restores a youthful glow, detoxification and creates an overall wellness.
A 1996 report in the International Journal of Clinical Acupuncture reported that “among 3000 cases treated with Cosmetic Acupuncture 90% had marked effects with one course treatment. The effects included: the skin becoming more delicate, improvement in elasticity, ruddier complexion and overal rejunenation”.
Cosmetic Acupuncture can erase as many as five to fifteen years from your face, with results apparent in just a few treatments. A course of treatments generally consists of ten treatments. The effects become most noticeable and lasting on or about the seventh treatment. Each person responds differently, depending on his or her condition and lifestyle prior to treatment. Follow up maintenance treatments can prolong the results for five to ten years.
Cosmetic Acupuncture is an excellent alternative to surgery. It is far less costly and is safe, less painful and has no side effects or risk of disfigurement. Unlike surgery that may have an extended recovery period with swelling and discoloration, there is no trauma from Cosmetic Acupuncture, other than occasional mild bruising, which can be minimized by proper technique and topical applications during treatment.
